Welcome to the Gentle Giant Rowing Club located on the Mystic River in Somerville, Massachusetts. Our Club is a not-for-profit, registered 501(c)3, organization dedicated to introducing and nurturing the sport of rowing, regardless of age, culture, financial ability or physical capability; and to improving and preserving the environment in and surrounding the rivers we row.

GGRC’s Benefit Night at American Flatbread is Tuesday, Sept 29th. All you need to do is order a pizza - dine-in, takeout, or delivery - from American Flatbread in Davis Square, Somerville and we’ll receive a portion of the sale of each pizza! Funds raised will benefit our youth programs. We’ll also have a Prize Auction! Don’t cook dinner on Sept 29th…ORDER A PIZZA AND SUPPORT YOUTH ROWING!
GGRC’s Fall Youth Rowing Starts on Monday, August 24th!
It’s time to get ready for the Fall Race Season! GGRC’s Youth Rowing for rowers in 8th - 12th grade starts on August 24th!
Don’t know how to row? No problem! We’ll teach you. This program is for beginners as well as experienced rowers. This year we are also adding Middle School Rowing! Younger rowers will be able to head out on the Mystic with your youth team and experience rowing. We’re looking forward to adding their enthusiasm to our team.
Days and Times?
GGRC Youth (8th-12th Grade) - Monday - Friday, 4p-6p
GGRC Middle Schoolers - Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 4p-6p
Rowing is a sport that will teach you lessons on the water which will help you in school and beyond. It can also be a pathway to help get you into college! You’ll work hard. You’ll race. You’ll make friends. YOU’LL HAVE FUN!
